Amy Fitzgerald Planning (AFP) was founded in 2023 to help fulfill the need for more women-owned business consultants in the planning field.  AFP is a certified women-owned business (WBE) and disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) with NYS and the DOT.  Amy Fitzgerald, AICP,  is the principal and has over ten years of experience in community planning.

Great places to live and work do not just happen on their own, it takes planning to achieve livability and the right mix of uses in a community.  We are passionate about creating and keeping this mix through community planning, downtown revitalization, open space and trail planning, and economic development, among many others.  Our experience is diverse because it is our belief that a well-rounded planner is the most useful to their community.  It is only by looking broadly that you can see the interconnectedness of the many needs of a place and region and you can find a truly sustainable approach.

We can assist your community with developing comprehensive plans and strategic master plans for neighborhood revitalization, farmland, and open space protection.  We can help you find the right mix of streetscape improvements, adaptive reuse, infill development, and tenant/business mix to enliven downtown. Making streets safe and usable for all is a passion of ours. We can redesign an area to have a sense of place and assist in starting a public art program through site and artist selection and advertisement. Reaching people where they are for ideas and discussion is essential to every community planning project. We can provide robust zoning review and proposed local law zoning code updates for municipalities. We are well-versed in the NYS SEQR regulations and have successfully navigated the process multiple times on diverse projects.

Serving all corners of NYS and beyond, AFP can work with municipalities, agencies (local and state, and federal), and other firms to achieve community planning goals.  We can be primary consultants or sub-consultants, and enjoy the collaboration of a team effort.
